UCF NORTH FLORIDA EMERGENCY MEDICINE

Wellness Means More Than Wellness Events

Residency is demanding, and our goal is to build an environment where residents can grow without losing sight of the people, interests, and goals that matter outside the hospital.

Wellness is not treated as a collection of perks. The program focuses on protecting time, maintaining durable relationships, and giving residents practical support for the parts of emergency medicine that are difficult to teach in a lecture.

01

Protect Your Time

Protected Wellness Time

Two protected wellness days each year create dedicated time away from clinical duties to reconnect with your residency community and enjoy life outside the hospital.

Resident-Led Scheduling

Residents participate directly in scheduling, with protection for conference, golden weekends, and important personal or family events whenever possible.

Resident Voice

Resident input shapes scheduling, education, wellness, and the continued evolution of the program. You have a voice in how the residency improves.

02

Know Your People

Mentor Families

Longitudinal mentor families begin around Match and continue through residency and beyond graduation.

Mental Health Support

Free mental-health support is available for residents and their families, including therapy, life coaching, and strategies for anxiety and stress.

03

Build a Sustainable Career

The Un-Hidden Curriculum

Training includes fatigue mitigation, conflict resolution, difficult-case debriefing, and strategies for coping with moral distress and other challenges that are part of emergency medicine.

Career Longevity & Check-Ins

Faculty support residents' individual interests and long-term career goals, with semiannual check-ins to make sure each resident has the resources and support needed to thrive.
