Our primary clinical training site and the center of residency education. This 523-bed community-based academic hospital sees more than 85,000 emergency visits annually in an approximately 19,000-square-foot, 38-bed emergency department.
A 90-bed community hospital that includes critical-care and inpatient rehabilitation services. Our faculty also staff this emergency department, giving residents the same high-quality teaching in a smaller community setting.
Residents work one-on-one with attending physicians while caring for undifferentiated patients in a resource-limited freestanding emergency department. The experience emphasizes triage, disposition, autonomy, and department-flow management.
Residents complete Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Intensive Care experiences at this 135-bed pediatric referral hospital in Greater Orlando, working with board-certified physicians in each subspecialty and caring for children referred from across Florida and the Southeast.
Residents complete dedicated trauma rotations at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, a 222-bed hospital with a busy emergency department and Level II Trauma Center.
PGY-1 residents work on the trauma team, respond to trauma alerts, care for Trauma Service patients on the surgical floor, and participate in secondary surveys, procedures, and bedside evaluation.
PGY-2 residents function as the trauma consult resident, evaluate surgical consults in the ED, respond to trauma alerts as first- or second-resident, help manage critically injured patients with the critical-care team, and supervise interns.
